FAITH HEALER – INVESTIGATE DAY
David Thacker created Investigate Days when he was Artistic Director of the Octagon Theatre Bolton from 2009 – 2016. During that time, more than 50 productions had Investigate Days.
Lisa Connor invited David to do the same for his production of American Buffalo at the Kings Arms last year. Like the Investigate Days at the Octagon it was very popular – which is why we’re doing it again.
What is an Investigate Day?
It’s aimed at the widest possible audience of people who are interested in theatre. This includes young people, first time theatregoers, and people who’ve been going to theatre all their lives.
An Investigate Day does exactly what it says on the tin – it investigates the play. And we hope it will be stimulating for you all.
What’s the format?
10:30 – 1:30
In the intimate environment of the King’s Arms Theatre – with a maximum of 60 people – David and the cast (Vicky Binns, Colin Connor and Rupert Hill) will share their experience of rehearsing Faith Healer. They don’t expect you to know anything about the play or even to know much about theatre. But whether you are a new or experienced theatregoer they hope you will relish this chance to glimpse into the rehearsal room and see some of the techniques and strategies they used to understand and rehearse the play. You will be able to discuss this with them or quietly observe, whichever you prefer. There won’t be any spoilers, and this will enable you to watch the matinee performance with a unique perspective.
2:30 – 5.00
Matinee
You will watch Faith Healer, having met Colin, Vicky and Rupert and started to get to know Frank Grace and Teddy.
5:00 – 6:00
David will facilitate a discussion between the audience and the cast, giving you the opportunity, if you wish, to share your impressions and to hear what other people made of Faith Healer.
Do I have to do it all in one day?
No, you could come to the Investigate morning and see one of the other six performance, but you would miss the discussion after the performance. TheInvestigate Day is designed to be one event, and we think that’s how you, and the cast, would get most out of it.
